Villa in Braník, Prague

study 2022
We designed a spacious villa for a creative young married couple with children located on a south-sloping plot in a stabilized residential area with a view of the Braník valley.

The house is composed of several volumes that descend into the garden along the sloped terrain. This fragmentation softens the scale and emphasizes the attractive views from all living areas. The material solution is a soft combination of dominating glass surfaces in subtle aluminium profiles complemented by contrasting faced concrete that smoothly transitions into the interior.

The house is divided into floors starting with the master suite on the top floor, continuing to the entrance, the night area and then finally to the spacious living floor connected to the garden with an outdoor pool. The living room is dominated by a recessed chill zone custom-designed for the clients’ dream Ham Jong sofa set by the Japanese designer Kenzo Takada.

The extended two-story space of the central staircase hosts a small private gallery for the owners’ attractive collection of contemporary fine art.
