Cottage JARO
realization 2022
A family house on the edge of the forest represents the current citation of cottage aesthetics found in the area around Štěchovice. The small picturesque structure of vertical form is situated on a steep slope, casually integrated into the terrain.
The relatively small house for two users is defined inside primarily by a prominent sculptural staircase spanning the entire height of the building, connecting all three residential floors. The highest floor features a separate main bedroom with facilities and beautiful views of the valley towards the Vltava River. The living room on the lowest floor is in direct contact with the garden and, at the same time, visually seamlessly transitions into the kitchen with a dining area on the middle floor through a vertical gallery. The house’s exterior is wrapped in a wooden cladding that ages over time, transforming like the surrounding nature. The garden is divided into several functional parts based on various outdoor activities using simple non-invasive principles.
The human intervention should be almost imperceptible in the area. The distinctive house and garden reflect the deep passion for art of its owners. The design emerged through intensive dialogue, with meticulous attention given to every detail.
