House in Zichovec

The family house in Zichovec is designed according to the wishes of the owners as a one-storey house with a partially used attic. The main orientation point of the house is a triangular central atrium, which connects the three pavilions into one whole. We always place one function in each arm of the building – this creates a pavilion with living rooms and a common living space, a section of bedrooms with bathrooms and a separate background with a workshop and garage. Each part of the house faces a different side of the world and thus has its absolute privacy.
The main living area is open to the roof and oriented to the most convenient cardinal points with portals facing north and south. The abundance of large-format glazing allows the house to be 100% connected to the garden. This creates a free-flowing space where the boundaries between the outside and inside worlds are blurred.
The unconventional shape of the house with three pavilions is a response to the requirements of the owners and the land, which is bordered on three sides by forest. The plot area dissolves into the landscape and, thanks to the immediate connection to the forest, gives the impression of a visually endless garden. Directly on the plot there is a utility garden with a greenhouse, a communal area with a terrace and a biotope pond, and a fireplace that invites to meet friends or sit out during warm evenings. The garden can be accessed from every room of the house.
