La casa interrata
study 2023
Il Barolo stimola la creatività! In Piemonte, Italy, we propose a multifunctional facility that extends the range of services offered by the local wine resort and allows allocation for weddings, conferences and celebrations in larger numbers. With complete gastronomic facilities, there will also be a bistro associated with the existing Michelin restaurant.
The building is designed as a natural part of the southern slope. Thanks to the green roof forming an artificial landscaping wave, which naturally blends with the slope and complements the existing vineyard landscape. The building thus does not interfere with the composition of the historic buildings of the resort. Only the glass façade is visible, cutting through the terrain and offering panoramic views from the interior of the surrounding landscape. A wide paved driveway anchors the building to the existing assembled buildings.
The interior space is divided into two parts. The rear part with the technological facilities, is located in the space of the existing garage and is completely built into the ground. The front part consists of a generous open space of the hall with views of the opposite slopes. The wall separating the facilities is clad in stone referring to the local light soil in which the whole building is embedded.
