Villa Točná
study 2022
Premium villa on a slope with the forest of Modřanská gorge in the back and a beautiful view of Prague.
A villa for a client who lives permanently in the USA and wished to build a house with facilities where he could retreat with his loved ones when travelling to the Czech Republic. The inspiration for his second home came from one of our previous projects.
The building stands on a sloping plot with two terrain breaks, which we used for the resulting layout of the whole building. On the lowest level there is a basement with a garage, a guest bedroom and technical facilities. The two floors which are inserted in the longitudinal form, by standing as distant as possible from the neighbouring house, leave space for a sunny west terrace at the residential floor level. The most striking elements in the interior are the solitary spiral staircase connecting the individual floors and the extravagant fireplace that separates the living room from the kitchen and dining room.
Due to the position of the top living floor on the terrain, it is possible to go out on your own terrace towards the forest from the master bedroom and the bathroom. The three-storey elevated facade is relieved by generous glazing that maximises attractive views of distant horizons and connects the living space to the terrace. The brick cladding accentuates the composition of the facade by alternating horizontal and vertical rhythms.
