House in Podkrkonoší

On a slightly sloping meadow in the region Podkrkonoší (near a mountain range in the north of the Czech Republic), we designed a family house with an additional function of a herb dryer. This simple two-storey house with a gabled roof has no intention of standing out, even though its solitary location doesn’t favor this humble ambition. We decided to compensate this by providing it with a strict and austere dark wooden cladding, which enables it to blend in with its dark background created by a small grove. The living room is equipped with a gallery, providing the residents with beautiful landscape view from three sides of the room through big windows. On the first floor there are bedrooms with their own small galeries. The house is connected with adjacent herb garden, divided into smaller parts, based on distinctive permacultural zones.
